Washing DTF-decorated garments
Four habits that keep a transfer looking pressed-yesterday.
Turn it inside out
Always wash decorated garments inside out. It protects the print surface from rubbing against other items in the drum.
Cold water, gentle cycle
Wash cold with similar colors on a gentle cycle. Skip bleach and harsh detergents — they attack the print film.
Tumble dry low
Low heat only. High dryer heat is the fastest way to age any heat transfer.
Never iron the print
If the garment needs ironing, turn it inside out or keep the iron off the printed area. Direct iron contact melts the film.

How many washes will a transfer survive?
Our transfers are wash-tested to 50 cycles on cotton at our published press settings. Real-world life depends on pressing correctly and following the care rules above.
Does washing wrong void the reprint guarantee?
The reprint guarantee covers production errors — misprints, defects, damage on arrival. Wear caused by hot washes, bleach, or ironing the print isn't a production error, so press and wash to the guides.
Can I dry clean a decorated garment?
No — dry-cleaning solvents attack transfer films. Machine wash cold or hand wash instead.
The print cracked after washing. What happened?
Cracking usually traces back to the press: too little pressure or a skipped second press. Check the press guide, re-press a test piece, and contact us if a transfer was defective on arrival.
